Max subscribers should have full Opus 4.6 access without Extra Usage requirement
As a Max subscriber, I'm frustrated that:
1. Extra Usage required for Opus in Claude Code
I'm already paying for Max ($100/month), why do I need to enable pay-as-you-go to use the flagship model in the CLI?
2. 1M context window excluded for Max subscribers
This is a headline feature of Opus 4.6 but Max subscribers are locked out at launch. We're paying premium prices for a limited experience.
From the docs:
The [1m] suffix is only available for API/pay-as-you-go users, not Max subscribers at launch.
Expected behavior
Max should mean MAX - full access to all features including:
- Opus 4.6 in Claude Code without Extra Usage
- 1M context window
- All adaptive thinking/effort levels
Impact
The current tiering feels like nickel-and-diming loyal subscribers who are already paying top dollar. This creates a confusing and frustrating experience where I see the feature announced, get excited, then discover I can't actually use it despite being on the highest consumer tier.
Please reconsider this policy.
