verenthusiastic Response Bias in Claude Code responses

Bug Description
Claude Code is stunning in many ways but has a significant flaw in how it describes its own work:

  • It almost always exuberantly over-celebrates its own achievements
  • It concludes that all is well, when all is not.
  • So it plunges on ahead, to the next ToDo, mistakenly believing that all is well

This is significant issue, as it leave half-completed tasks behind as if done. "Confetti" ensues.

I frequently ask it to respond in a more sober, level-headed tone but it will almost always exclaim "You're absolutely right!" and then over-egg how wonderful the idea is. It needs to be more level-headed.

Maybe this is a function of its system prompts?
