[BUG] Long prompt lost - vanished when I had to log in.

Resolved 💬 3 comments Opened Jan 24, 2026 by GranderFunk Closed Jan 27, 2026

Preflight Checklist

  • [x] This is a single bug report (please file separate reports for different bugs)
  • [x] I am using the latest version of Claude Code

What's Wrong?

Although I thought I had previously logged into Claude Code within VSCode, it appears I was not. There is no basic and fundamental indication to show me as logged in, for some reason.
I spent 30 minutes typing up a prompt - hit enter - and was taken to the login screen. I logged in.
My prompt was then simply gone. Erased. Vanished.

WHAT THE #$%&?!?!?

What Should Happen?

It obviously should have NOT erased my prompt, but rather it should have run my prompt once I was logged in. How is this a thing??
Why doesn't your extension show my log in status? What are you guys doing over there?

Steps to Reproduce

  1. Don't be logged in.
  2. Write a long prompt, wasting half an hour of your time.
  3. Hit enter.
  4. Log into your account
  5. Look in disgust as your prompt is simply gone, along with the time you wasted.
