Bug Description
when i sync a github repo it loads forever and does not sync
and sorry to report the bug here as i did not know where else to report and on the support they dont answer at all

Once in a while we get a proper update.
I also experience this issue. Previously it has been a little slow, but today the syncing never ends. I get the same upstream connect error as you.

I also had to reinstall the claude app in our github org this morning, since no public repos could be accessed. There should have been no need to reinstall the claude app.

I'm experiencing the _same_ issue. My GitHub repository is no longer syncing with Claude Projects, even though it was working perfectly until 1-2 weeks ago.
The sync appears to have stopped working after the recent update that introduced conversation desegmentation. The GitHub connector shows as "Connected" in the project settings, but the repository files are not accessible or indexed in the conversation context.
Should I create a new ticket @Kothulhu94 or do you think it's the same issue? (on the 10th of june I was very OK, but maybe they are not pushing updates on all accounts at once which would explain why I was ok so far.
Additionally, there's a discrepancy in the capacity reporting: When I click "Add content from GitHub", it shows 64% of total capacity used, but in the project view under the GitHub connector section, it displays "93 files selected - 7% of capacity used". I'm on the Claude Max plan ($200/month), so capacity shouldn't be an issue.

It has just stopped working for me today too.

I have the same issue. I am connected to GitHub (both on web and desktop) and I can access the repositories, even the private ones.
I select the files.
But syncing is not working, and I can't send any messages unless I remove the connection to the repo in the chat field

Having the same issue. I didn't initiate the sync, I just noticed I couldn't reply in the current conversation and when I exited back out to the Project I noticed my GitHub repo syncing. I removed it and re-added it and that didn't resolve the issue. Removing my repo does, however, allow to me continue chatting and sending messages. I just don't have my repo in the project knowledge for reference.

Same here. Started 2 hours ago. In the project chat, The send button is disabled and shows "syncing knowledge". In the project, GH is spinning foever. Removing GH, logging out and in, reconnecting GH doesn't help (used to)

Yup none of my repos are synching either this morning. removing and adding doesn't do anything. No errors just infinite spinning of the sync

The issue is resolved for me. I can add my repo, sync it to the Project knowledge, and it will run a sync cycle that completes. I can send messages with the repo synced as well, and Claude can access the data in my Project knowledge. I will add that I am using the Desktop app on Windows.
I can confirm the browser version is working for me now. No re-login required.
Can confirm that claude.ai github repo syncing is working again for me.

After working perfectly for the last two weeks, the bug is back. It keeps syncing indefinitely to no success or means of using the github repo.

Had this issue a few days ago - it was "resolved", and now it's back again.
The issue is still occuring, WHETER it shows SYNCING or not, the projects ARENT SYNCED at ALL. It used to be almost perfectly synced even to the smallest file. Now it barely understands anything. Even on a 200$ monthly plan.
I am having the same issue, the project shows as synced but Claude is unable to read/access the files.
Could and admin push the issue up?

So this issue is with Sonnet 4.5. Sonnet 4 seems to be able to access the project.

I think Claude is switching to another model that encourages Claude Code Web as an alternative to Claude Code, and might remove Github Connection in the future.. That's what i'm thinking.

What you mean? Using it via cli? I cant even send messages to projects I have connected my git hubs repo cause its only keep syncing forever!!!
I guess I spoke too soon. It was able to sync earlier this morning, however now it is unable to sync on any model. Using the web version.
I think you should restart your laptop. I've tried it, and it works.

I cannot even add repos to project knowledge anymore, says its not accesible and I need to allow access. I try targeted and all repos. still nothing.
I can't use the claude code web promotion because it doesn't see my github repo, I get stuck in an "onboarding loop" where I am told to: install github app -> github settings (its installed) -> back to claude.ai but the settings page. When I try to open code web it starts the loop over.
