Preflight Checklist

  • [x] I have searched existing issues and this hasn't been reported yet
  • [x] This is a single bug report (please file separate reports for different bugs)
  • [x] I am using the latest version of Claude Code

What's Wrong?

GitHub integration in Claude.ai (web interface) is showing 0% capacity for ALL files and folders when trying to add content from a connected repository.

The file/folder structure loads correctly (can see folder names like src/, deploy/, scripts/, etc.), but:

  • All folders show "0%" capacity
  • All files show "<1%" capacity
  • Total capacity shows "0% da capacidade utilizada" (0% capacity used)
  • Previously this was working and showing correct percentages (e.g., 27%)

This happens despite:

  • GitHub App having correct permissions (All repositories, Read & Write access)
  • Repository being accessible and up-to-date on GitHub
  • Connection showing as active

This appears to be the same issue as #10647 but occurring again in January 2026.

What Should Happen?

When adding content from GitHub:

  • Files and folders should display their actual capacity percentage
  • Content should be accessible and loadable into the chat/project context
  • Capacity indicator should reflect the real size of selected content

Error Messages/Logs

No error messages displayed. The UI simply shows 0% for all items without any error indication.

Steps to Reproduce

  1. Go to Claude.ai (web interface)
  2. Start a new chat or open a Project
  3. Click "+" to add content
  4. Select "Add content from GitHub"
  5. Select a connected repository (e.g., yanzer0/temporal-project)
  6. Observe that all folders show "0%" and all files show "<1%"
  7. Note that bottom bar shows "0% da capacidade utilizada"
  8. This was previously working and showing correct percentages

Claude Model

None

Is this a regression?

Yes, this worked in a previous version

Last Working Version

Was working earlier today (January 13, 2026) - exact version unknown (web interface)

Additional Information

This bug affects Claude.ai web interface (not Claude Code CLI).

Repository: yanzer0/temporal-project (private)
Branch: main
GitHub App permissions: All repositories with Read & Write access
App installed: 2 months ago

Similar to issue #10647 - appears to be a recurring platform-wide regression.

Screenshots attached showing:

  1. GitHub App permissions (correct)
  2. File browser showing 0% for all items
  3. Bottom bar showing "0% da capacidade utilizada"

Same issue. This started yesterday evening at about 11:00 PM Rome time.
For me the Claude Model is Sonnet 4.5, but I think this is transversal to all the models

Bug Description:
Claude Code cannot browse beyond the root directory of a GitHub repository. When attempting to explore a repository, it only shows/accesses files located directly in the root folder, but fails to display or navigate into subdirectories.
Impact:
This prevents Claude Code from accessing the actual codebase structure, as most projects have their source code organized in subdirectories (e.g., /src, /lib, /components, etc.).
Scope:
Multiple users have reported the same issue, confirming it's not a permissions or configuration problem on individual setups, but rather a limitation/bug in Claude Code's repository browsing functionality.
Expected Behavior:
Claude Code should be able to recursively browse and access files in all subdirectories of a repository, not just the root level.
Current Behavior:
Only files at the root directory level are visible/accessible.

PLEASE FIX IT ASAP.
IT IS IMPOSSIBLE TO WORK IN THIS WAY

Same issue for me since Jan 13th.
Unable to work / progress.

Claude support has been ignoring me so far.

Still no contact here & still encountering the issue. My current solution is to set up MCP and use it to allow Claude (desktop) to access my local code. This is my current workaround and I'll likely stick with this workflow over the Github connector from now on.
