[Feature Request] Add option to hide permission mode indicator line in custom status line mode

Resolved 💬 2 comments Opened Jan 10, 2026 by itamartz Closed Jan 10, 2026

Bug Description
Title: Option to hide permission mode indicator when using custom status line

Description:

When using bypassPermissions mode, there's a line below the status bar that shows:
⏵⏵ bypass permissions on (shift+tab to cycle)

I'd like to display the permission mode in my custom status line script instead, but there's no way to hide this built-in indicator line.

Request:
Add a setting like "hidePermissionModeIndicator": true in settings.json to hide this line when users want to show the permission status in their custom status line instead.

Why:

  • Reduces UI clutter when permission info is already in the custom status line
  • Gives users more control over their terminal layout
  • The information would still be visible, just in a user-preferred location

Environment Info

  • Platform: win32
  • Terminal: windows-terminal
  • Version: 2.1.3
