[Bug] /usage command fails to recognize active Max subscription

Bug Description

Bug: /usage shows "only available for subscription plans" despite having active Max subscription

Environment:

• Claude Code version: 2.0.76
• Platform: macOS
• Model: Opus 4.5
• Subscription: Max plan (180 EUR/month)

Problem:
The /usage command returns: "/usage is only available for subscription plans."

However, I have an active Max subscription (confirmed at claude.ai/settings/billing - shows "Max plan" with valid payment and invoices).

Timeline:

• Today (January 7, 2026) around 14:00 CET: /usage was working correctly
• Today around 18:30 CET: /usage stopped working with the above error
• No changes were made to my environment between these times

Verified:

• No ANTHROPIC_API_KEY environment variable set
• OAuth credentials exist in Keychain ("Claude Code-credentials")
• ~/.claude.json shows correct oauthAccount with my email
• Logged out and back in - problem persists
• Same issue in both terminal Claude Code and Desktop app

This appears to be a server-side authentication/recognition issue where Claude Code intermittently fails to recognize Max subscriptions.
