Task tool

Current Documentation

Using Sonnet 4.5, I prompted:

Please show me the builtin docs/understanding you have for the builtin Agent and Task tools, and indicate whether these are the same.

An excerpt from the response was:

Usage Notes: ... - Agents with "access to current context" can see the full conversation history before the tool call. When using these agents, you can write concise prompts that reference earlier context.

What's Wrong or Missing?

I further prompted Claude to investigate which agents (or under what circumstances) the current context could be accessed by sub-agents. Claude explored this empirically, and was not able to identify any case where context could be shared or accessed between different agents.

Suggested Improvement

This "access to current context" documentation point that Claude returned does not seem to be useful, and if not hallucinated, might be better off removing.

Impact

Low - Minor confusion or inconvenience
