mac cannot toggle thinking use option + t, also cannot use tab toggle.

If you're on iTerm, go to the iTerm preferences -> Profiles -> Keys -> set the Left/Right Option key to Esc+.

Why was this changed? What was wrong with tab? Even after getting it working, it's super annoying - alt + t is a really hard combo to type (the alt/opt button is hard to get into motor memory). And the UX is super wierd - rather then toggling thinking mode, you have to choose between two options, so instead of the just pressing tab once, it's alt+t + up/down + return, which is super annoying and slows you down. Now all the tab button does is to tell you to press alt+t? What is the point of that? I have tab hardwired to my brain to switch thinking modes as its something I do all the time to try to preserve credits... is this a diabolic approach to trying to get us to stay on thinking mode so we burn credits quicker? I don't think you make a major UX change like this without giving us a good reason.

I'm baffled by this decision. The only reason I can understand it would be if it didn't really work well behind the scenes to switch models on the fly like that.

Otherwise, it took away a super simple visible indicator of model selection and excellent ergonomics. Curious if we'll see it come back.

In your VSCode/Cursor settings, add this setting:

"terminal.integrated.macOptionIsMeta": true

Should fix your issue, MacOS is weird and sends † when you opt-t.

The documentation confused me a lot:

For iTerm2 and VS Code terminal: Open Settings → Profiles → Keys Under General, set Left/Right Option key to “Esc+“
