What's Wrong?
When I try to connect to the GitHub in Claude Code web it goes in a loop from Claude Code Web->GitHub->Claude Code Web -> GitHub even if all the permissions are given, cache is cleared and in different browsers.
To break the loop, I have to start a Claude Code session in iOS app and then access the Claude Code Web in the browser.
What Should Happen?
Claude Code Web GitHub connection should work without infinite loop.

Came here because I have the same issue. Thought I would try out web once instead of cli, but no joy.
Also came here for this same issue. I pulled it up on an Android device on Chrome but it showed the same onboarding screen. I refreshed and it disappeared and it now also works on my desktop browser.

@hwells4 Like I mentioned in the OP, using the iOS app to make the GitHub connection worked then and I didn't have the need to connect again with GitHub.
I have the same issue. Claude code mentions that it cannot access private repos.
same issue, tried both iOS and web. Even using different GitHub account / org still get stuck on the loop
UPDATE: going to Settings -> Connectors -> Disconnect Github. Then on Github uninstall Claude Github App and reovking oauth access. Then once you connect the account again it works for me without the redirect loop.

Tried every step and this still did not work for me.
Happens for me to. Disconnecting and reconnecting does not help:
My Claude Code on the web was stuck on https://claude.ai/code/onboarding, stuck in an infinite loading loop. However, after I downloaded Claude on my phone and completed the onboarding there, the browser version started working as well.
I was able to get through the onboarding loop by using the iOS app however that still did not clear the onboarding loop within chrome, firefox, and mac desktop app. Using safari browser finally worked for me and then once i completed the onboarding in safari i was no longer redirected in chrome/desktop
The best comment ever about Claude being stuck (and "unusable") is "I have a feeling they vibecoded the whole thing and didn't vibetest it well enough."
Less funnier thing about that is - not able to create an api key.
