Resolved 💬 5 comments Opened Nov 3, 2025 by khari998 Closed Jan 12, 2026

Preflight Checklist

  • [x] I have searched existing issues and this hasn't been reported yet
  • [x] This is a single bug report (please file separate reports for different bugs)
  • [x] I am using the latest version of Claude Code

What's Wrong?

I am using claude code on the web and for some reason, the sonnet model that is default and cant be switched is the normal 200k context window. When the conversation gets long, claude prompts me to compact the conversation. However on my local device im always using the sonnet 1m context window. There is no way I've seen to switch to using sonnet 1m on the web as default. I thought that Claude code on web would sync settings such that I could use the 1m context on web but im forced to have to continue conversations on my local device to continue with converstations

What Should Happen?

Claude should either sync stettings with local cli or allow for model selection for a given environment

Error Messages/Logs

No errors just told to compact when the conversation gets too long

Steps to Reproduce

Make a conversation that exceeds 200k token threshold in web

Claude Model

Sonnet (default)

Is this a regression?

I don't know
