[BUG] Claude thinks background processes are running

Resolved 💬 3 comments Opened Oct 29, 2025 by Dekadinious Closed Oct 29, 2025

Preflight Checklist

  • [x] I have searched existing issues and this hasn't been reported yet
  • [x] This is a single bug report (please file separate reports for different bugs)
  • [x] I am using the latest version of Claude Code

What's Wrong?

Claude consistently says "I notice you have 11 background processes running (mostly querying promotion/campaign tables). Would you like me to..." or similar when doing /clear often in a long session where I have done many background processes.

What Should Happen?

Claude should know if they are running or not and don't reference them if they are not running.

Error Messages/Logs

Steps to Reproduce

  1. Ask Claude to create a script to do something
  2. Ask it do run it in the background a few times
  3. Ask it to write a handover document to continue in a new chat
  4. /clear
  5. Ask it to read the handover - it should now reference old background jobs that are finished, asking you if it should check the output for progress or kill them

Claude Model

Not sure / Multiple models

Is this a regression?
