The latest Desktop redesign slows down my daily work in Code mode across several local repos. Several of these points are also reported separately; this issue collects them in one place. Pain points, most important first:

  1. Suggested next prompts are gone (Mac, 2.37337.1). I used them all the time: gray text in the empty input box, Tab to accept, edit if needed, Enter to send. Settings → Claude Code → Sessions → Prompt suggestions is on, and the docs still describe the feature, but no suggestions appear in my recent sessions.
  • Also reported: #102185, #102208 (Windows), #101788 (SSH)
  • This has regressed before: #88391, #90464, #98971
  1. Boxes instead of a continuous transcript. Work is split into separate cards, which breaks the reading flow. I'd like one continuous transcript with compact, collapsible tool activity. Normal transcript mode is already on.
  2. No quick start from a folder. A new folder needs the "New environment" form (name + folder) first. I just want New session → pick a directory → type the prompt.
  3. No grouping by directory. The sidebar offers None / Date / Environment. I want sessions grouped by working directory automatically.
  • Also reported: #102157, #102177, #102129
  1. Upper-right box can't be hidden. It takes space and adds no useful information at all.
  2. Context usage moved away from the composer. I want to see it next to the input while writing the next prompt.
  • Also reported: #102176, #102103

Please don't copy Codex's design missteps. All these points were perfect before. A "Classic workflow" option covering these would be great (see also #102117). If one already exists, please document it; I couldn't find it in settings or the session menu.

  • Desktop app, Code mode

Thanks!
