Bug

/plugin install fails for a marketplace plugin whose source is "source": "github". The clone URL is built without the / after github.com, so git tries to resolve the host github.comaddyosmani.

Repro

Marketplace .claude-plugin/marketplace.json in addyosmani/agent-skills:

"source": { "source": "github", "repo": "addyosmani/agent-skills" }

Run:

/plugin marketplace add https://github.com/addyosmani/agent-skills.git
/plugin install agent-skills@addy-agent-skills

Error:

Failed to install: Failed to clone repository: Cloning into '...\.claude\plugins\cache\temp_github_<id>'...
fatal: unable to access 'https://github.comaddyosmani/agent-skills.git/': Could not resolve host: github.comaddyosmani

The marketplace add itself succeeds. The failure happens only on plugin install, for the github-source entry.

Notes

  • Not SSH: the URL is already HTTPS. A global url."https://github.com/".insteadOf "git@github.com:" rule does not help, because the malformed URL does not match it.
  • git ls-remote https://github.com/addyosmani/agent-skills.git works from the same machine.
  • Workaround: register the already-cloned marketplace by local path, /plugin marketplace add <local path>, then install. Not verified end to end.

Environment

  • Windows 11 Pro 10.0.26200, Git Bash / PowerShell
  • Claude Code (version: fill in)
