Environment
Claude desktop app (macOS), Code tab
Problem — this makes the app nearly unusable for me
When starting a session from a suggested-task chip (spawn_task), the "Worktree" switch in the launch popover is always ON, with no way to change the default.
I don't use git worktrees at all. I run parallel work with GitButler (multiple virtual branches applied in a single working directory). Every time a session accidentally launches in a worktree, it breaks my workspace: the work happens outside my GitButler workspace, branches/changes end up in the wrong place, and I have to clean it up by hand.
Having to remember to flip this switch off on every single chip is extremely frustrating — honestly frustrating enough that it makes me want to stop using the desktop app for this workflow.
Request
- A setting to make the worktree switch default to OFF (globally and/or per project), or
- remember the last choice per project, and
- ideally detect GitButler-managed repos (
.git/gitbutler) and not default to worktrees there.
