[BUG] Desktop "Allowed sites" dialog rejects every domain with "blocked by your organization's policy" until the site is added at claude.ai
Product: Claude Code in the Claude Desktop app (Code tab), built-in browser pane (mcp__Claude_Browser__* tools). Claude Desktop 2.7032.0 on Fedora Linux; also reproduced on Windows.
What's Wrong?
On Claude Desktop (Linux and Windows), personal account (not Team or Enterprise), no Chrome or OS management: in Settings → Browser use → Allowed sites → Manage, adding any domain (e.g. example.com, google.com) fails with:
This site is blocked by your organization's policy.
There is no organization. example.com being rejected rules out the site safety list.
Workaround
Add the domain first at claude.ai → Settings → Claude in Chrome → Allowed sites → Add websites. After that, the same domain is accepted in the Desktop Allowed sites dialog immediately.
The Desktop Allowed sites list isn't shared between installs. After adding the domain on the web, I still had to add it separately in each Desktop app (Linux and Windows). Adding it on the web only stops the Desktop dialog from rejecting it.
What Should Happen?
The Desktop dialog should accept sites on its own. If something does block a site, the error should name the real cause instead of an organization policy that doesn't exist.
Environment
- Claude Code Desktop (Code tab) 2.7032.0, Fedora Linux; also Windows
- Personal account, no MDM / managed browser policies
