[BUG] Claude Desktop sessions disappeared after reverting to Pro from Max (Linux)
Preflight Checklist
- [x] I have searched existing issues and this hasn't been reported yet
- [x] This is a single bug report (please file separate reports for different bugs)
- [x] I am using the latest version of Claude Code
What's Wrong?
I experienced the same issue as https://github.com/anthropics/claude-code/issues/72541 after downgrading from Max to Pro.
Environment: Linux, Claude Desktop, Max → Pro downgrade.
Symptoms: My Desktop sessions/projects suddenly disappeared. I was concerned that my local Claude Code session history had been lost.
Recovery: The sessions unexpectedly reappeared after an automatic message arrived. I did not reinstall Claude Desktop or intentionally modify local session files. THIS IS A KEY PIECE OF INFORMATION.
This suggests the session list may become temporarily unavailable or fail to refresh after a subscription change, even if the underlying session data remains intact. The agents were still running, and it was one of their notifications that 'brought back' the session info / list.
Please investigate whether plan changes can cause the Desktop Code session list to become temporarily empty, and whether the app can recover automatically without user intervention.
What Should Happen?
The sessions and project lists in the desktop app user interface should remain unaffected.
