[BUG] Desktop Code tab: connector switch is account-wide (also disables the connector in claude.ai chat and Cowork) but reads as per-session

What happens

In the Claude desktop app's Code tab, turning a claude.ai connector off (composer + > Connectors, or the in-session connector tool) also turns it off in claude.ai chat and Cowork.

Nothing in the UI says the switch is account-wide. The in-session tool's own result reads like it is scoped to Code:

Disabled X for this session (its tools are removed when this turn ends). It is also now off by default for new sessions.

Steps to reproduce

  1. Open a Code tab session in the desktop app.
  2. + > Connectors, turn off any claude.ai connector (we hit it with a self-hosted vault connector, then again with 14 connectors).
  3. Open claude.ai chat or Cowork: the connector is off there too, and chat can no longer reach it.

Expected

Either the switch only affects Code sessions, or the label and the tool result say it applies to the whole account (chat, Cowork, Code).

Why it matters

Trimming per-session context is the obvious reason to flip this switch in the Code tab: every connected connector adds its tool names to every Code session. Doing that silently cut chat and Cowork off from a connector they depend on, twice (2026-10-01 and 2026-10-11).

Environment

  • Claude desktop app, Code tab, local session
  • Claude Code 2.1.296
  • macOS 27.0.1
