What You Asked Claude to Do
Hold every line of every file it touches to 120 columns, counted with a tool rather than estimated, documentation included: a touched file is held to the whole rule, and Markdown table rows are the one exception (the owner's rule, recorded 2026-10-02 after repeated corrections).
What Claude Actually Did
- It wrote the plan document for a piece of work with a YAML frontmatter
title:line of 132 columns, and later rewrote that title to 147 columns. - Three commits on the work's branch carried the plan. Before each one it measured the widths of the scripts it had changed, never the plan's.
- It found the line itself, measuring the documents for the fourth commit, after the owner had run the three commit scripts.
Expected Behavior
Measure every touched file with a tool before each commit, plans and other documents included, and shorten or wrap any line over 120 columns before the commit script is handed over.

The plan, docs/plans/chore/1037-install-sh-embeds-declare.md in NobleFactor/devlore-cli, in three commits on its branch; its title is shortened in the next commit.
