Problem Statement

In earlier versions of Claude Desktop, the run history of a scheduled task was displayed in a panel on the right side of the window. I could see every past run, with an indicator for the ones I had not opened yet, while the conversation of the current run stayed open next to it.

In the current version, the run history is only available on the task's detail page (left column "History", with blue dots for unread runs). To read a run, I have to open the detail page, pick a run, read it, then go back to the detail page to pick the next one.

For frequent tasks (hourly), this back-and-forth makes the feature hard to use day to day.

Proposed Solution

  • Bring back the run-history list as a panel on the right side of the run conversation view, showing each run's date/time and its read/unread state.
  • Clicking a run in that panel opens it in place, without leaving the view.
  • Optionally, a setting to choose between the side-panel layout and the current detail-page layout.

Alternative Solutions

Current workaround: open the task's detail page, click a run, read it, go back, click the next run. It works but requires two navigations per run, and there is no way to keep the list visible while reading a run.

Use Case Example

  1. I have an hourly email-triage scheduled task (every hour from 8:00 to 18:00, about 11 runs per day).
  2. During the day I want to quickly go through the runs I haven't read yet.
  3. With the previous side panel: one window, the list on the right, click each unread run in turn.
  4. Now: open the task detail page, click a run, read, go back to the detail page, click the next run, and so on for each run.

Additional Context

Related issues:

  • #77901 — clicking a scheduled task no longer opens the latest run (closed, not planned)
  • #64843 — scheduled task sessions don't appear under the "Scheduled" section in the sidebar
  • #54524 — scheduled routines no longer have a dedicated sidebar section
  • #61456 — scheduled tasks: sidebar section and "Run now" button removed

Environment:

  • Claude Desktop version: 2.26454.2
  • OS: macOS (Apple Silicon, arm64)
  • Task type: recurring scheduled task (hourly)
