Description

In the Desktop app's Code tab, the Files pane content search (? prefix in the "Filter, or ? to search in files" box) always returns "No matches in file contents", even for terms that appear in many files in the workspace.

Steps to reproduce

  1. Open a Code tab session on a local git repo.
  2. Open the Files pane. Filtering by file name works.
  3. Type ?franchise in the search box. The hint "Type after ? to search in files" confirms the box is in content-search mode.
  4. Result: "No matches in file contents".

Expected

Matches from the ~120 files in the repo that contain franchise (verified with grep -rl), including committed files at the repo root such as dbt_project.yml.

Actual

No matches for any query. Tried with:

  • the Match Case (Aa) toggle on and off
  • the ab toggle in its default state
  • a longer term (?franchise_feeds, present in 5 files) and a shorter one (?franchise)

Environment

  • Claude Desktop 2.26454.0
  • macOS 15.3
  • Repo: dbt project with venv/, target/, dbt_packages/ and logs/ directories at the root (in case the large ignored dirs affect the search)
