What were you trying to do?
Running a recurring scheduled task (a daily research job) that needs to clone and push to a private GitHub repository (jaya-r2024/FundWindow) using the Claude GitHub App integration. The integration was confirmed connected and installed with push access to this exact repo under Settings → Connectors → GitHub Integration — the "Check repository status" check there showed "Claude Code cloud sessions can work in jaya-r2024/FundWindow."
What happened instead?
The scheduled task's session had no add_repo tool available at all. When it fell back to plain git, authentication failed with: "fatal: could not read Username for 'https://github.com/': terminal prompts disabled", "Failed to log in to github.com using token (GH_TOKEN)", and "The token in GH_TOKEN is invalid." This happened across 4 separate attempts (the original scheduled run plus 3 manual re-runs), even after reinstalling the Claude GitHub App and confirming access via the "Check repository status" checker. Access appears to work for interactive chat sessions but not for scheduled/background cloud sessions, and the repository status indicator also seemed to show as working one moment and not the next.
