What's Wrong?

Title: Desktop app can't reattach to a resumed terminal session; old Remote Control row stays dead

What happened

I had a Code session in the desktop app, "Marketing ideas Tom O", with Remote Control on.
I archived it, restored it, then resumed the same conversation in the terminal with claude, and turned Remote Control on there.
The old desktop row now permanently says "Remote Control disconnected – Claude Code on the computer running this session is offline". That's misleading, because the conversation is running on the same computer.
Remote Control in the terminal created a new session at a new URL (claude.ai/code/session_…). It isn't in the desktop app's sidebar, so I can't open the running session in the app.
In the web view of the new Remote Control session, earlier chat history doesn't seem to show, though the transcript on disk has all of it.
Expected

A Remote Control session from the terminal should show in the desktop app's sidebar, or the app should offer to open it.
Resuming a conversation in the terminal should reconnect its existing Remote Control row, or replace it, instead of leaving a dead one behind.
The disconnected banner should say when the conversation is live in another process, and link to it.
Opening a resumed session remotely should show the full conversation history.
Environment: macOS (Darwin 25.6), Claude desktop app (Code tab) plus Claude Code CLI on the same machine and account.

What Should Happen?

An older or Archived and Restored session should be accessible from the desktop app in the following conditions:

  1. When opening a previously closed session and expecting to resume it with the session history loaded (ideal UX)
  2. When using /resume in terminal and activating /remote-control

The session history as it is loaded in the terminal after resuming should be reflected in the Desktop App

Error Messages/Logs

Steps to Reproduce

Here are the steps to reproduce:

Steps to Reproduce

  1. In the Claude code terminal start a session in a local project folder and send at least one message.
  2. Turn Remote Control on for that session and perform some interaction
  3. Close the terminal window or terminate/clear the session
  4. Archive the session from the Desktop App sidebar.
  5. Restore it from the archived list.
  6. Quit the desktop app's copy of the session, or leave it idle, and in a terminal in the same project folder resume the same conversation:

claude --resume
Then pick the session from the list.

  1. In that terminal session, type /remote-control to turn Remote Control on. Note the URL it prints (https://claude.ai/code/session_…).
  2. Go back to the desktop app and open the original session row in the sidebar. (make sure the session view filter is set to "All")
  3. Try to continue the session by sending any prompt
  4. After a wait you will get a message that "Remote Control disconnected" while the session is resumed and active in the terminal window and /remote-control is still active

Actual results

  • Step 10: the original row shows "Remote Control disconnected – Claude Code on the computer running this session is offline", even though the conversation is live on the same machine.
  • Step 11: the running terminal session isn't listed anywhere in the desktop sidebar, so it can't be opened in the app.
  • Step 12: the web view doesn't show the earlier chat history, though the transcript on disk has all of it.

Expected results

  • The original row reconnects to the resumed session, or is replaced by it.
  • The resumed terminal session can be opened from the desktop app, with full history.
  • If the app can't reattach, the banner says the conversation is running elsewhere and links to it.
