Problem Statement

⚡ feat: PikaClaude + alt-icon styles — community-swappable Claude terminal icons

What this is

A Claude Code plugin that fully replaces the default orange terminal icon with a Pikachu-themed pixel-art sprite — same 6×6 grid, same ear/arm/leg positions, new palette. Built as a proof-of-concept for a broader idea.

What the plugin does

• AbovePrompt band: compact yellow/black pixel icon + ⚡ PikaClaude label above every prompt
• Side pane: full portrait, auto-opens on session start
• /pikachu slash command to reopen the pane at any time

The broader ask — official alt-style support for the Claude icon

The Claude terminal icon is a beloved pixel-art sprite, and the plugin API is already powerful enough for the community to restyle it. All of the following work today, on the same 6×6 grid, with zero CLI changes:

No new rendering infrastructure needed. The AbovePrompt + Pane hook pattern does all of this already. We just need a blessed API surface and a place to share themes.

Asking for

• Feedback on whether icon-swapping is a supported/encouraged plugin use case
• Any guidance on a community plugin registry where alt styles could live
• Whether an icon-style first-class config option is something the team would consider

Built in one Claude Code session. Happy to iterate on any of this.
