Desktop: SSH / Remote Control sessions are not grouped by project folder and not visible in the Desktop app on the remote machine

Summary

Sessions I run through Claude Desktop's SSH environment are only indexed in the Desktop app on the client (laptop). The Desktop app on the remote machine itself never lists them, even though the full transcript is saved on the remote machine. Remote Control sessions also land under "Other" in the sidebar instead of being grouped by project folder.

Setup

  • Home machine: Ubuntu 26.04, Claude Desktop 2.9939.4 (Linux beta), runs Claude Code
  • Laptop: Windows 11, Claude Desktop, connected to the home machine over SSH (via Tailscale)
  • Same project folder on the home machine: ~/Work/<project>

What I see

  1. I work from the laptop using an SSH environment on ~/Work/<project>.
  2. The transcript is written on the home machine at ~/.claude/projects/-home-<user>-Work-<project>/<id>.jsonl.
  3. The session is indexed only in the laptop app's session store. The Desktop app on the home machine keeps its own index (~/.config/Claude/claude-code-sessions/) and does not list this session.
  4. Back at home, I cannot continue that session from the Desktop app. The docs also say /resume is unavailable in SSH sessions.
  5. Remote Control sessions started from the home machine appear under "Other" in the sidebar rather than under their project folder.

Expected

  • Sessions for a given project folder should be visible and resumable from any Desktop app that can reach that machine, or at least from the Desktop app on the machine where the transcripts live.
  • Remote Control and SSH sessions should be grouped under their working directory in the sidebar, like local sessions are.

Suggested options

  • Let the Desktop app on a machine import / discover sessions found in ~/.claude/projects for its project folders.
  • Store session metadata with the transcript on the host that runs Claude Code, so every client sees the same list.
  • Group remote sessions by their cwd in the sidebar and show the folder name.
  • Support /resume (or an equivalent) in SSH sessions.

Use case

I want to work at home and on the go (laptop over SSH) on the same projects and pick up the exact same conversation on either side, without the CLI and without leaving the Desktop app.
