Problem Statement

In the Claude Code Desktop browser pane, the viewport / device selector used to sit in the pane toolbar, right next to the element picker (select element) arrow. Since a recent update it only lives in the ⋮ overflow menu (⋮ → Viewport → Responsive / presets).

I switch viewports constantly while reviewing responsive layouts, so every change now takes extra clicks through a submenu, and the active viewport is no longer visible at a glance in the toolbar.

Proposed Solution

Bring the viewport selector back to the browser pane toolbar, next to the element picker, showing the active size (for example "Responsive" or "390 × 844"). If the toolbar has to stay minimal, an option to pin the viewport control to the toolbar would solve it as well.

Alternative Solutions

Using ⋮ → Viewport each time. It works, but it is slow when switching often. I couldn't find a setting to change the toolbar layout.

Priority

Medium - Would be very helpful

Feature Category

Other (Desktop app browser pane)

Use Case Example

  1. I'm reviewing a responsive page in the Desktop browser pane.
  2. I check it at desktop width (1920 × 1080), then at phone width (390 px), then back, several times per review.
  3. With the selector in the toolbar, each switch is one click and I can always see which viewport is active.

Additional Context

  • Claude desktop app 2.19675.0, macOS 26.6.2 (Apple Silicon)
  • Current location of the control: ⋮ menu → Viewport (submenu, shows "Responsive")
