Cowork project chats get 'GitHub access to this repository is not enabled for this session' for my private repository, even in a new chat, while the status page says cloud sessions can work in it.

What were you trying to do?

Read my private repository (open pull requests, recent commits, CI runs) from a Cowork project chat. The Claude GitHub app is installed on all my repositories with read and write access, and the GitHub settings page shows everything as connected.

What happened instead?

Every GitHub call from a Cowork project chat is refused with "GitHub access to this repository is not enabled for this session", in two separate chats on 4 Oct 2026. In the same account, a Claude Code web session at claude.ai/code lists and selects the same repository without problems.
