Environment: Claude desktop app 2.19675.0 on two Windows 11 PCs, Claude Code 2.1.286, same account, sessions connected to Remote Control, sidebar grouped by environment.

What we observed (each point reproduced by a test):

  1. A Remote Control session running on machine B in a folder that is not a git repository is listed under "Other" on machine A.
  2. git init alone does not change this, even though the new session's record contains gitAnchors.
  3. After git remote add origin https://github.com/<owner>/<repo>.git, new sessions appear on machine A under a group named after the repository. The address alone is enough: the repository did not exist yet and nothing had been pushed. Sessions created before that stay under "Other".
  4. With a repository named foo-bar while another group foo exists, the group title is rendered as "foo-bar · \<owner\>". Creating the repository, pushing content, deleting duplicate sessions and restarting both apps did not remove the suffix. Renaming the repository so that its name no longer starts like the other group removed it (for sessions created afterwards).

Expected:

  • Remote sessions are grouped by their project even without a git remote, and existing sessions are regrouped when the folder's git information changes.
  • The owner suffix only appears when two titles are actually identical.
  • The grouping rules are documented. Today nothing in the docs explains "Other" or the suffix.

A related request: Claude itself could not explain any of this, nor locate the Remote Control switch in the app, and had to guess. Claude should know the interface of its own app, so it can guide the user without guessing.
