Problem Statement
Opt-in, anonymized "what helped other users" summaries for chronic conditions (e.g., psoriasis)
Proposed Solution
Many people with chronic conditions delay or avoid seeing a doctor (cost, fear, access) and use Claude as their first source of guidance. In my case (palmar psoriasis, 5-year history), I spent months trying different creams and practices before learning what actually helped. Just as importantly, I learned which things only relieve symptoms (hydration, stiffness, fissures) and which affect the disease itself: none of the creams I tried changed plaques or redness. Separating those two took a long time.
Every user starts from zero. There is currently no way to benefit from what has already helped others in a similar situation, and Claude cannot (and should not) share one user's conversations with another.
Proposed solution
Add an opt-in feature where users can report what helped (or didn't), and show other users with the same condition a short, anonymized summary, for example: "Other users report this helped: X (N reports). Helped with: symptom relief / disease activity. Did not help: Y."
Safeguards:
Opt-in, anonymized, aggregated only above a minimum number of reports; no individual conversations are shared.
Clearly labeled as user-reported experience, not medical advice; the model is not responsible for outcomes.
Each item paired with an evidence level from published literature and a safety note (e.g., never encourage DIY UV devices or stopping prescribed treatment).
Separate "symptom relief" reports from "disease-modifying" reports.
Always include red-flag guidance on when to seek medical care.
