Problem Statement
In the Claude desktop app on macOS, only one account can be signed in at a time. Moving between two accounts with different email addresses (for example a personal Pro account and a separate work account) means logging out and back in every time. That loses context and makes the desktop app a poor fit for anyone who keeps work and personal use apart.
The current account toggle (clicking your name or initials in the lower left) only works between an individual plan and a Team/Enterprise plan tied to the same email address. It doesn't cover accounts with different emails.
Proposed Solution
- Add an "Add another account" option to the account menu in the lower left.
- Keep every added account signed in, and switch between them from that menu without re-authenticating.
- Keep conversations, projects, connectors and settings separate for each account.
- Add a keyboard shortcut or menu bar item for switching, similar to account switching in Slack or Chrome profiles.
