Preflight Checklist

  • [x] I am using the latest version of Claude Code

What's Wrong?

When I use Claude to draft an email and copy the generated/drafted email content into Gmail on a mobile device, the text formatting is not preserved correctly.

In particular, text that is formatted with a white text color becomes black after being pasted into Gmail on mobile. Even if I manually change the text color back to white in Gmail before sending, the recipient still receives the text as black.

The same email content and copy/paste workflow works correctly on a laptop/desktop, where the text color is preserved as expected. The issue appears to be specific to the mobile workflow.

What Should Happen?

When email content is copied from Claude and pasted into Gmail, the text formatting should be preserved consistently across supported platforms.

In particular, text that is explicitly formatted as white should remain white when pasted into Gmail on mobile, just as it does on desktop/laptop.

If the user manually changes the text color to white before sending, the recipient should receive the email with the text displayed in white rather than having the color reverted to black.

Error Messages/Logs

No error message is displayed.

The issue is a formatting/clipboard behavior: the text color changes to black when the content is pasted into Gmail on a mobile device. The message can still be edited and sent normally, but the recipient receives the affected text in black.

Steps to Reproduce

  1. Open Claude and ask it to draft an email.
  2. Include or apply formatting where some of the email text is intended to be white.
  3. Copy the drafted email content from Claude.
  4. Open the Gmail app on a mobile phone.
  5. Create a new email or reply to an existing email.
  6. Paste the copied email content into the Gmail message editor.
  7. Observe that the text that was formatted as white appears as black.
  8. Manually select the affected text in Gmail and change its text color to white.
  9. Send the email.
  10. Open the sent email from the recipient's side or another account/device.
  11. Observe that the affected text is still displayed as black instead of white.

For comparison, perform the same Claude → copy → Gmail workflow on a laptop/desktop. The text color is preserved correctly there.

Additional Information

Environment

  • Affected device: iPhone 11 Pro Max
  • Mobile OS: iOS 26.5
  • Gmail app version: Version 6.0.260921

Observed behavior

The issue is reproducible on mobile but does not occur during the same workflow on desktop/laptop.

Comparison

Mobile:
Claude → Copy email → Gmail mobile → Paste → text becomes black

Desktop:
Claude → Copy email → Gmail desktop/web → Paste → text color is preserved

Notes

There is no visible error message. The issue appears to involve preservation of text-color formatting during the copy/paste workflow. I have included screenshots showing the formatting before and after pasting/sending.
