Summary

On a Max (5x) account, Claude Code's usage data reports subscription_type: "pro", so the Claude desktop app (Windows, Code tab) labels the plan "Pro" and hides the Max-only "Weekly · Sonnet" row. Everything else on the account says Max.

Environment

  • Claude desktop app for Windows 2.16120.0 (Code tab), bundled Claude Code 2.1.284
  • Windows 11
  • Account upgraded Pro → Max 5x on 2026-09-28 (proration invoice); renews as Max

What's reported

Plan-usage data the desktop app receives from the bundled Claude Code (as exposed by the app's get_usage session tool):

{ "plan": { "status": "ok", "plan": "Pro",
  "windows": [
    { "label": "5-hour limit", "percentUsed": 33 },
    { "label": "Weekly · all models", "percentUsed": 34 },
    { "label": "Weekly · Fable", "percentUsed": 0 }
  ] } }

The desktop app maps subscription_type → label (pro → "Pro", max → "Max") and only adds Weekly · Sonnet when subscription_type is max/team/null, so the missing row confirms the CLI reported "pro" rather than this being a pure UI typo.

What everything else says

  • ~/.claude/.credentials.json → subscriptionType: "max", rateLimitTier: "default_claude_max_5x"
  • ~/.claude.json → oauthAccount.organizationType: "claude_max"
  • claude.ai → "Plan usage limits · Max (5x)"; billing page → Max plan
  • Anthropic support (Fin) confirmed the org is on claude_max; reported there too.

No stale "pro" value exists anywhere under ~/.claude*.

Expected

subscription_type: "max" → label "Max" and the Weekly · Sonnet row shown.

Notes

  • Possibly related to the mid-cycle Pro → Max upgrade.
  • Limits themselves appear to be applied at Max (support confirmed), so impact is the wrong label/rows and user confusion about whether they're being limited at Pro.
