[Bug] Status line JSON still has no advisor field (refile of #77980, closed as stale)
Refiling #77980, which the stale bot closed on 18 Sep without a maintainer reply. The related feature request #70611 was closed the same way.
What's wrong
A status line cannot tell whether an advisor is attached to the current session. As of Claude Code 2.1.285, the status line docs (https://code.claude.com/docs/en/statusline) list session_id, model, effort, workspace, cost, context_window, output_style, worktree and more, but no advisor field, and the page does not mention the advisor at all.
Why the only workaround misleads
The one signal left is advisorModel in settings.json. That is a persisted default, not live session state, so it is wrong in both directions (details in #77980; not re-tested on 2.1.285):
- A session started with
--advisor <model>writes nothing to disk, so the status line shows no advisor while one is active. /advisor <model>persists to user settings, so the status line then shows an advisor in every session on the machine.
Ask
Add the live advisor to the status line JSON, for example "advisor": { "model": "opus" }, or null when none is attached.
Environment
Claude Code 2.1.285, Linux.
