Problem Statement

read Cursor rules natively. Claude Code doesn't load .cursor/rules/*.mdc (global or per-project), so Cursor users have to copy rules into CLAUDE.md or import each file with @. Requested: (1) load ~/.cursor/rules/ and a project's .cursor/rules/ automatically or through a setting, (2) respect alwaysApply and globs the way Cursor does, and (3) import whole folders so new or renamed rule files are picked up without editing CLAUDE.md.

Proposed Solution

  1. Load Cursor rules automatically

Claude Code would read ~/.cursor/rules/*.mdc (your global rules) and .cursor/rules/ in each project, the same way it reads CLAUDE.md today.
It could be switched on in settings, for example "loadCursorRules": true, so people who don't use Cursor aren't affected.

  1. Follow Cursor's scoping

alwaysApply: true would load the rule in every session.
globs: prisma/** would load it only when I open or edit a matching file.
Right now I load the full text of every rule in every session and have to work out the scope from the notes we added.

  1. Import a whole folder

One line such as @~/.cursor/rules/ in CLAUDE.md would cover every file in it.
New, renamed or deleted rule files would be picked up automatically, with no list of imports to maintain and no startup check.
