Description

When a session is resumed with claude -r, the terminal tab title is left at the Claude Code version string (e.g. 2.1.284). Resuming the same session through the in-app picker (claude, then /resume) sets the tab title to the session name correctly, on the same version. So the title-update escape sequence appears to be skipped on the -r startup path only.

Environment

  • Claude Code 2.1.284 (native install)
  • macOS (Darwin 25.6.0), zsh
  • VS Code integrated terminal

Steps to reproduce

  1. In the VS Code integrated terminal, run claude -r and pick a named session.
  2. Observe the terminal tab title: it shows 2.1.284 (the version string).
  3. Exit. Run claude, then /resume, and pick the same session.
  4. Observe the terminal tab title: it now shows the session name.

Expected

Both resume paths set the terminal tab title to the session name.

Actual

Only the in-app /resume path does; claude -r leaves the title at the version string.

Notes

  • Descriptive titles were showing in normal daily use on 2.1.282; noticed the version-string title right after updating to 2.1.284.
  • Possibly related: #56933 (title shows version), #18326 (propagate session name to terminal title).
