[BUG] Running any version above 2.1.278 locks up on FreeBSD
Preflight Checklist
- [x] I have searched existing issues and this hasn't been reported yet
- [x] This is a single bug report (please file separate reports for different bugs)
- [x] I am using the latest version of Claude Code
What's Wrong?
Running the taste versioiof Claude-Code on FreebSD starts OK, but after a few prompts freezes. I did a check back through the versions, and the last one which worked fine was 2.1.278, anything above that - 2.1.280 onwards - has the lockup. The whole thing become suresponsive to any key presses, and the spinner stops. This is not a terminal issue as I have tried several, and also running indie screen and attacking form a different Terminal doesn't help after the lockup.
[ in FreeBSD we are running the Linux binary in the emulator as there is no longer a FreeBSD native one ]
What Should Happen?
It shouldn't lock up -)

Steps to Reproduce
Run it on a large directory of code, give it a reasonably complex promo which it will need to do some significant thinking about and watch - it will lock up after a few seconds.

I am on FreeBSD 15.1 and have the same issue, I submitted a report last night. However I have it working on v2.1.281 fine.
@ingresso-pete You can ask AI to apply the patch mentioned in https://bugs.freebsd.org/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=298878
If fixes this for me.
If you want the script that I use to compile the kernel module and replace on the system you can create an issue on https://github.com/yoonka/freebsd-ports-overlay and I will add there.
Oh, I forgot to mention that in that overlay is an updated port for bun and claude-code that runs natively on bun without linuxulator, so you could also compile it with poudriere and install to run claude without hitting this bug in linuxulator.
