Problem Statement
Add keybinding actions to quickly switch between Claude models without opening the model picker UI.
Proposed Solution
Currently, the only model-selection keybinding available is chat:modelPicker (default: meta+p), which opens an interactive menu. Users must navigate and select from the menu each time they want to switch models.
Desired Behavior
Add built-in keybinding actions to directly switch to specific models in a single keypress:
chat:switchToHaikuchat:switchToOpuschat:switchToSonnet- (optionally:
chat:switchToFable,chat:switchToClaude3, etc.)

Use Case Example
Use Case
When working on different tasks, users frequently need to switch between models:
- Haiku for quick, lightweight tasks
- Opus for complex, reasoning-heavy work
- Sonnet for balanced tasks
Additional Context
Users could configure in ~/.claude/keybindings.json:
{
"context": "Chat",
"bindings": {
"ctrl+alt+h": "chat:switchToHaiku",
"ctrl+alt+o": "chat:switchToOpus",
"ctrl+alt+s": "chat:switchToSonnet"
}
}
