What were you trying to do?
We are experiencing an issue connecting one team member’s GitHub account to Claude Code cloud sessions.
What happened instead?
The user’s GitHub account connects successfully to Claude, but the connector then displays “Reconnect the Claude GitHub App.” When the user selects this option, Claude reports that the relevant organization cannot be linked because the user is not an organization owner.
We have verified all of the following:
The user is an active member of the GitHub organization.
The user has write access to the private repository.
Their organization membership is public.
Their repository access and team permissions match those of other team members who use the same workflow successfully.
The official Claude GitHub App, developed by Anthropic, is installed on the organization.
The app has read and write permissions for the required GitHub resources.
The repository is specifically selected under the app’s repository access.
The app installation is active and not suspended.
There are no pending GitHub App installation or permission requests.
Claude appears under the user’s Authorized GitHub Apps.
Claude shows the user’s GitHub account as connected.
We have also tried:
Restarting Claude and the browser.
Disconnecting and reconnecting the GitHub connector.
Reauthorizing the Claude GitHub App.
Repeating the connection through the production/web interface.
Confirming the app configuration from the GitHub organization owner account.
Checking that the correct GitHub and Claude Pro accounts are being used.
Despite this, Claude continues to show “Reconnect the Claude GitHub App” for cloud sessions, and the repository-status selector remains unavailable. Reconnecting leads back to the organization-owner message.
We understand that installing the GitHub App at the organization level requires an organization owner. However, the organization owner has already installed and configured the app, and the affected user should be able to use the repository through their existing member and write permissions. Other team members with equivalent access follow the same workflow without this issue.
Could you please check whether the organization installation is correctly associated with this user’s Claude Pro account, or whether there is a stale or incomplete authorization affecting Claude Code cloud sessions?
