Summary

In the desktop app (Code tab), the PR tracker rows pinned at the bottom of a session do not honour the Settings → Browser → "Open links in built-in browser" toggle. The inline PR chip rendered inside a message body, pointing at the same pull request, honours it correctly.

So the same PR URL opens two different ways depending on which chip you click.

Repro

  1. Settings → Browser → "Open links in built-in browser" = on.
  2. Open a session with a tracked PR, so the PR tracker row appears at the bottom of the session (#828 <repo> <branch> +669 −732 CI ×).
  3. In the message text above, click the inline #828 chip → opens in the built-in browser pane. Correct.
  4. Click the #828 PR tracker row at the bottom → does not open in the built-in browser.

Both chips target the same URL (https://github.com/<org>/<repo>/pull/828).

Expected

With the toggle on, every in-app link opens in the built-in browser, including the PR tracker rows.

Actual

Only the inline message chip routes through the built-in browser. The tracker row takes a different path.

Notes

  • Reproduces with both an open PR (green icon) and merged PRs (purple icon) in the tracker list.
  • Not an auth issue — the built-in browser has a valid GitHub session; navigating to the same private-repo PR URL via the browser tools renders the PR fine.
  • Nothing is written to ~/.config/Claude/logs/main.log on either click, so there is no log evidence to attach; the renderer does not log link opens.

Environment

  • Claude Code 2.1.267, desktop app, Code tab
  • Linux 6.18.33.2-microsoft-standard-WSL2 (WSL2, Ubuntu), x86_64
  • Browser tools: on · Open links in built-in browser: on · Keep cookies: Shared
