Replaces #90946. Automation labelled it invalid ("doesn't appear to be about Claude Code") 14 minutes after filing and closed it on 2026-09-03. That label was wrong. The report is about Claude Code's own settings: One of the two rows below writes the documented Claude Code setting switchModelsOnFlag, and both rows live in Claude Desktop's Settings → Claude Code page. Re-verified on the current build, Claude Desktop 2.7032.0.0.

What the user sees

Under Settings → Claude Code, the row "Switch models when a message is flagged" appears twice: once in the General group near the top, and again in the Local sessions group further down. The two rows have the same label and the same first line of description, so they read as the same setting listed twice.

They are not the same setting. They are two different settings that happen to share a label.

What the shipped renderer does

Read from the settings chunk app/resources/ion-dist/assets/v1/c71860c77-mTuuna2U.js in Claude Desktop 2.7032.0.0 (Microsoft Store MSIX, Windows 11). This matches what #90946 reported for 1.40609.0.0:

  • The General section (id: "general") renders a toggle bound to the account setting ccr_switch_models_on_flag.
  • The Local sessions section (id: "local-sessions") renders a toggle bound to the local Claude Code setting switchModelsOnFlag and reports claudeai.desktop.switch_models_on_flag_toggled with scope: "local".
  • Both rows render the same label message id (rvu758), so their titles are identical by construction rather than by coincidence.
  • Their descriptions share the same first fragment (2ztzuc) and differ only in a trailing fragment (u8busg vs. 13u9mfl). The one distinguishing sentence is the last part of the secondary text.

So the page offers two independent switches, in two different scopes, under one name, with the scope buried at the end of the description.

Why this is a problem

  • The rows are indistinguishable at a glance. The heading of the enclosing group is the only reliable cue, and "General" does not read as "cloud sessions".
  • The two switches are stored separately (an account setting and a local settings patch), so they can hold different values. A user who turns "the" setting off can easily change only one scope and believe they changed both.
  • Because the label repeats verbatim, the natural first reading is that the settings window has a duplicate row. That is how this was noticed.

Related: neither row is findable in settings search

The settings search index (app/resources/ion-dist/assets/v1/ca25db325-eBNF3nUc.js in 2.7032.0.0) registers "Switch models when a message is flagged" only under the Capabilities section. Neither Claude Code row is indexed, so searching the settings window for that phrase leads to a different page than the one containing the rows the user is looking at.

Requested

  1. Give the two rows scope-distinct labels, for example "… for cloud sessions" and "… for sessions on this computer". Alternatively, merge them into one row with an explicit scope control.
  2. Register both Claude Code rows in the settings search index, so searching the phrase reaches the setting the user is actually looking for.

Environment

  • Claude Desktop 2.7032.0.0, Microsoft Store MSIX package, Windows 11
  • Settings → Claude Code, sections "General" and "Local sessions"
