Saved shortcut no longer appears in "/" autocomplete in Chrome extension side panel (possibly related to #95975)

Summary
Shortcuts do not appear in the "/" autocomplete suggestions in the Claude in Chrome side panel chat box. This affects both a previously-working saved shortcut and a brand-new shortcut created just now to test.

Details

  • Confirmed via the extension's own shortcuts-list capability that the pre-existing shortcut still exists and is intact in storage — this is not a data-loss issue, purely a UI/autocomplete display issue.
  • Typing "/" (or the shortcut name) in the side panel chat box does not surface it as a suggestion, so it can't be invoked the normal way.
  • Also tried creating a brand-new shortcut from scratch as a test — it also does not appear in the autocomplete list. So this isn't limited to shortcuts created before some update; new ones are affected too.

History / suspected cause
I previously hit a similar issue and resolved it by switching to the "classic" side panel experience via the extension options (Side panel experience -> "New side panel experience" -> off). That toggle appears to have been removed in extension version 1.0.94, alongside the broader move to the Cowork-based side panel (see the Aug 2026 "Cowork comes to the Chrome side panel" announcement). Since the classic-panel opt-out is gone, I have no way to work around this anymore.

Possibly related to #95975 (side panel "Can't reach the Claude extension" in Vivaldi after the classic side panel opt-out was removed in 1.0.94) -- same root cause (forced Cowork panel, no fallback), different symptom.

Expected behavior
Shortcuts that exist in the extension's storage (including newly created ones) should appear in the "/" autocomplete list in the side panel, as they did before the side panel redesign.

Environment

  • Browser: Chrome
  • Extension: Claude in Chrome
  • Extension version: 1.0.94
  • OS: macOS 26.6.2
