Memory feature doesn't reliably prevent recurring behavior, no cross-device persistence

The persistent memory feature (file-based, under ~/.claude/.../memory/) doesn't reliably stop a flagged behavior from recurring within the same local setup — a specific instruction ("never use the word 'fair'") was written to memory multiple times across sessions and still recurred repeatedly, including in the same session it was re-flagged in.
Separately, memory is local-filesystem-only with no cross-device sync — a preference set on one machine has no path to a Claude instance running on a different, unsynced computer. For a feature marketed as giving Claude persistent knowledge of user preferences, that's a significant, undisclosed limitation.
