False "Update available! Run: mise upgrade claude" when mise is already on latest
Installed Claude Code with mise (claude = "latest" in my global config, backend is aqua:anthropics/claude-code).
The bottom right keeps showing:
Update available! Run: mise upgrade claude
But running mise upgrade claude does nothing because I'm already on the newest version mise knows about:
$ claude --version
2.1.273 (Claude Code)
$ MISE_FETCH_REMOTE_VERSIONS_CACHE=0 mise latest claude
2.1.273
$ npm view @anthropic-ai/claude-code dist-tags.latest
2.1.274
So the check compares against the npm latest tag, while mise pulls from GitHub releases which show up a bit later. Since there's a new version almost every day, the notice is basically always there and the suggested command never fixes it.
Same kind of problem was reported for apt (#87197), Homebrew (#49590) and winget (#46550), but not for mise as far as I can tell.
Would be nice if the notice only showed up when the package manager actually has the newer version, or at least didn't suggest a command that can't work yet. For now I set DISABLE_AUTOUPDATER=1 to get rid of it.
