Description

A Claude Code session running on a desktop machine (Windows 11), being driven remotely via the Claude Code iPhone app, stopped responding after I sent a follow-up message to resume unfinished work. The session showed "Noodling..." indefinitely with no further output.

Environment

  • Desktop OS: Windows 11 Pro (build 10.0.26200)
  • Controlling device: iPhone 16, Claude Code mobile app
  • Model: Sonnet 5
  • Session ID: cse_01R4HaaAeBJaFBF7yv1nNgCX

Steps to reproduce

  1. Start a Claude Code session on desktop, driven remotely from the mobile app.
  2. Let the session run a multi-step coding task until it hits the session usage limit (message showed "You've hit your session limit · resets 1:50pm (Asia/Taipei)").
  3. After the limit window, send a follow-up message from the mobile app asking it to continue the unfinished task.
  4. Observe: the UI shows "Noodling..." and never produces further output.

Additional diagnostics

From a separate Claude Code session on the same desktop machine, I inspected the local process for the stuck session:

  • The underlying claude.exe process (PID at the time) was still running, created at the timestamp matching when the resume message was sent.
  • Local CPU usage was near zero over a multi-second sample.
  • The process held established HTTPS connections to api.anthropic.com and one other host, so it had not disconnected.

So the process itself had not crashed or lost its network connection, but it also never produced visible output or completed the turn. It's unclear whether this is a server-side hang, a stream that silently stopped being consumed, or something specific to the mobile-to-desktop remote session bridge.

Impact

Session had to be archived/abandoned; in-progress work had to be manually verified and continued from a different session.
