[Feature Request] Unified plugin system for MCP servers, skills, and agents
Make plugins the single source of truth for MCP servers, skills, agents, hooks, etc. A plugin can bundle all of these, or just one of them, such as a single MCP server. Right now these components are spread across many directories and paths, so I waste time and tokens tracking drift and applying updates, alongside typical maintenance.
Each plugin is one versioned directory, for example super-fun-plugin-1.0, with mcp, skills, agents, and hooks subdirectories. Users choose which of these sections to install, or they can install all and delete the relevant dirs.
Claude.ai, Claude Desktop, and the Claude Code CLI all read from the same plugin directory path OR, allow for import/symlinking.
Plugins can already bundle these components. What I'm asking for is one location that every client reads from. I got this idea while trimming context-bloat from my Claude session and adding mods to my Minecraft folders, where I wondered why this isn't all in one place???
