Description
When opening the effort-level selector via Alt+P (plan mode), the effort options are not visible unless the terminal window is resized to a very large height. At a standard terminal size (e.g. 80x24, and larger), the effort indicator/selector is effectively unusable without first maximizing the terminal window vertically.
Steps to reproduce
- Open Claude Code in a terminal at a typical size (e.g. 80 columns x 24 lines).
- Press Alt+P to open the effort/plan selector.
- Observe that the effort level options are cut off / not rendered — the terminal must be made extremely tall before the selector displays properly.
Expected behavior
The effort selector UI should be responsive to terminal size, or at minimum remain usable/scrollable within a standard terminal window height, without requiring the user to maximize their terminal.
Environment
- Claude Code version: 2.1.268
- OS: Linux (Ubuntu 24.04, kernel 7.0.0-30-generic)
- Terminal: xterm-256color
- Terminal size tested: 80x24 (tput cols/lines)
Additional notes
This makes the effort selector hard to use for anyone not running a very tall terminal window (e.g. multi-pane/tiled terminal setups, smaller monitors, or split terminal layouts).
