Problem

When I paste a screenshot into Claude Code all I get is [Image #1]. I can't tell what I actually attached. If the clipboard had something else, or I paste two images in a row, I only find out once Claude describes the wrong thing back to me.

Cursor's CLI agent already renders the pasted image right there in the terminal, so this is clearly possible. Most terminals people run Claude Code in (iTerm2, Kitty, WezTerm, Ghostty) can draw images inline.

Proposed solution

Render a small thumbnail next to the [Image #1] chip, both in the input box and in the sent message. Cap it at a few rows tall so it doesn't eat the screen. Where the terminal can't do graphics, showing the filename and dimensions would already help a lot.

Screenshot

Same paste in both. Cursor on the left shows the image, Claude Code on the right shows a placeholder.
