Description

Plugin skills that set disable-model-invocation: true in their SKILL.md frontmatter are completely omitted from the system-reminder that lists available skills. This makes them invisible to the model — it cannot invoke them via the Skill tool, and when a user types the skill name (e.g. /wayfinder, /to-spec), the harness either fails to match or fuzzy-matches to the nearest visible skill.

Reproduction

  1. Install the mattpocock-skills plugin (mattpocock-skills@claude-plugins-official)
  2. The plugin's .claude-plugin/plugin.json registers 25 skills
  3. Start a session and check the system-reminder listing available skills — only 11 appear
  4. The 14 missing skills all have disable-model-invocation: true in their SKILL.md frontmatter
  5. Attempting to invoke a missing skill by name (e.g. /to-spec, /wayfinder) either fails or resolves to a different skill

Expected behavior

disable-model-invocation: true should prevent the model from auto-triggering the skill (i.e. invoking it without the user asking), but the skill should still appear in the invocable list so the user can invoke it manually via /skill-name and the model can invoke it via the Skill tool when the user asks.

Evidence

Skills in the system-reminder (no disable-model-invocation):
diagnosing-bugs, tdd, prototype, research, domain-modeling, codebase-design, code-review, resolving-merge-conflicts, wizard, grilling, writing-for-agents

Skills missing from the system-reminder (all have disable-model-invocation: true):
ask-matt, grill-with-docs, triage, improve-codebase-architecture, setup-matt-pocock-skills, to-spec, to-tickets, wayfinder, implement, grill-me, handoff, teach, to-questionnaire, wait-what

Environment

  • Claude Code on Windows 11
  • Plugin: mattpocock-skills@claude-plugins-official v1.2.3
