Preflight Checklist

  • [x] I have searched existing issues and this hasn't been reported yet
  • [x] This is a single bug report (please file separate reports for different bugs)
  • [x] I am using the latest version of Claude Code

What's Wrong?

I liked the original CLI version.
Now it is impossible to remove the GUI version of it that looks quite like codex, and is quite broken regarding suggestion window popups, handling thinking vs not thinking.

I can only temporarily disable it by manually removing the extension, but:

  • then the Cmd+Esc shorrtcut doesn't work anymore.
  • for some odd reason, after a couple restarts of vscode Claude GUI is there again and I have no clue where the hell it gets the permission to reinstall itself.

This is very annoying, and there's no way to reset this or completely disable the GUI in the configs.

What Should Happen?

make the GUI optional.
