Type

Feature request / usability bug

Platform

Claude iPad app

Problem

There is no way to select or change the working directory (project folder) from within the Claude iPad app. Once a session is started, the user is stuck with whatever folder was picked at launch, and there is no visible UI to browse to or switch folders.

On desktop/CLI you can relaunch from another folder or use /add-dir, but on the iPad app neither of these is discoverable/available, so the user cannot point the session at the folder they actually want to work in.

Expected

A folder picker in the iPad app — ideally:

  • Select the working folder when starting a session
  • Switch/add a working folder mid-session (equivalent of /add-dir)
  • See the current working directory somewhere in the UI

Actual

No folder selection UI; the working directory cannot be changed from the iPad app.

Impact

Users on iPad can't direct a session at the intended project, making the app hard to use for real work.
